This is the longest address delivered by any Prime Minister in the nation's history. His speech commenced at 7:33 AM and concluded at 9:16 AM, exceeding his prior record of 98 minutes established in 2024. As a result, Prime Minister Modi has now spoken at Independence Day from the Red Fort for 12 years in a row, second only to Jawaharlal Nehru's 17-year streak; this surpassed Indira Gandhi's record. PM Modi's 2015 88-minute speech broke Jawaharlal Nehru's 1947 72-minute speech. In 2014, at his inaugural Independence Day address from the Red Fort, Prime Minister Modi spoke for 65 minutes, followed by a 96-minute speech in 2016. Prime Minister Modi's briefest Independence Day address occurred in 2017, lasting approximately 56 minutes. He delivered speeches lasting 83 minutes in 2018, 92 minutes in 2019, and 90 minutes in 2020. He spoke for 88 minutes (1 hour 28 minutes) on Independence Day in 2021, 74 minutes (1 hour 14 minutes) in 2022, and 90 minutes (1 hour 30 minutes) in 2023.
