Divya Delhi: Will the prolific writer, known for his writings more than politics, return to his passion and intellectual pursuit? ‘Why I Am A Hindu’ author has stirred up controversy by claiming that he is available for Congress if the party does not use him correctly, he has options, and he has many things to accomplish. The Thiruvananthapuram Congress raised the concern in a podcast with Indian Express Malayalam. “If the party wants to use that, I will be there for the party! I have my own plans otherwise. You shouldn't assume I have no choice. I have publications, lectures, and international speaking invitations.”The author intends to return to books. No sign of him joining BJP. However, his adulation for Narendra Modi and the saffron party has angered the grand old party. While US President Donald Trump was criticized for placing retaliatory tariffs on India in front of PM Modi, the Congress found it “very encouraging”.He told a news source, “So far, what we have seen from the Prime Minister and President Trump press statements are very encouraging. Some of our biggest fears were resolved. They would get down and negotiate trade and taxes, and he lauded the BJP for its organization and suggested the Congress learn from it.The Congress asked for a party organization to carry forth its ideology and principles, noting that the saffron party outperforms the grand old party in organization across states. After criticism for praising political rivals, the writer-turned-politician stated he speaks as a responsible democratic stakeholder and is not a party spokesperson. He told,“It seems to me that something good has been achieved, and I applaud that as an Indian. Not all discussions should be about party interests. Not a party spokesman. I am elected by the people of Thiruvananthapuram and speak as a responsible stakeholder in Indian democracy.
