Divya Delhi: Recent discussions have focused on US tariffs. The US president announced that India will slash tariffs ‘way down.’ Trump said India imposes “massive tariffs” on the US from the Oval Office. Due to “high tariffs,” he stated selling to India is nearly difficult. Donald Trump said India plans to lower such tariffs. He said India had decided to lower tariffs because “somebody is finally exposing them for what they have done.” Trump stated, “India charges us massive tariffs. Massive. You cannot sell anything in India. They decided, by the way, to cut their tariffs since someone is finally exposing them.” Trump said his administration will soon implement tariffs in a television address. Notably, the US plans to slap reciprocal tariffs on high-tariff countries. The start date is April 2. Trump said the US will no longer tolerate being exploited by other nations, especially high-tariff regimes like India. He said the US “has been taken advantage of by everyone.” He continued, “This practice will stop now.” He also criticized Canada and the EU for excessive taxes on American goods. “Canada has ripped us off on lumber and dairy tariffs for years. 250 percent. No one discusses that. The 250 percent tariff exploits our farmers. That won't happen again. They'll face the same tariff unless they abandon it, Trump said.
