Divya Delhi: The US Department of State has named The Resistance Front (TRF) as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and Specially named Global Terrorist in a significant move to combat terrorism in South Asia. The designation follows TRF's claim of responsibility for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir, which killed 26 civilians—India's deadliest since the 2008 Mumbai massacre. The TRF, a proxy and front for Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has become a serious factor in Jammu & Kashmir violence. The organization is accused of the Pahalgam massacre and multiple attacks on Indian security personnel by US officials. The US Department of State stated that TRF and its aliases are now part of LeT's designation under Section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act and Executive Order 13224, which targets terrorists and their supporters. "These actions show the Trump administration's commitment to national security, counterterrorism, and enforcement of President Donald Trump's Pahalgam attack justice call," the statement said. The US State Department also reviewed and reaffirmed LeT's FTO status, bringing all connected entities, including TRF, under counter-terror sanctions.
