Divya Delhi: To examine the severity of students' accusations, a Madhya Pradesh High Court judge switched down the courtroom lights during NEET UG 2025 exam irregularity hearings. After the NTA announced the NEET UG 2025 results on June 14, several Indore applicants petitioned the court with major concerns. Their plea claimed that thunderstorms, torrential rain, and a power outage disrupted their exam on May 4, 2025. They said these conditions were unreasonable and hurt their performance. Students want another exam. Justice Subodh Abhyankar asked, "What exactly is the problem with giving an exam without light?" at the MP High Court Indore bench hearing. He literally turned out the courtroom lights to test this assertion. The hearings were held in full darkness for 13 minutes, giving attendees a taste of the petitioners' stated conditions. The dramatic gesture showed the court's willingness to address the kids' complaints. Social media raged over the unprecedented move, which many called judicial empathy. The NTA's video-conferencing senior advocate Tushar Mehta fiercely rejected the plea. Including Indore, the NEET UG 2025 results were successful, he told the court. He said that the reported disruptions had not influenced outcomes, citing high regional performance figures. Mehta urged the court to reject the petition.
