In remembrance of India spinner Dilip Doshi, who passed away on June 23, 2025, top players from both teams stood in a line with black armbands around their sleeves. Former Indian left-handed spinner Dilip Doshi died in London at the age of 77. A close acquaintance verified Dilip Doshi's passing, and the BCCI also showed tribute. Doshi made his Test debut for India in 1979 at the age of 32. From 1979 to 1983, he participated in 33 Test matches and 15 One-Day Internationals for India, finishing his career with 114 Test wickets and 22 ODIs. Doshi played county cricket and claimed 898 wickets in 238 games, making him a notable figure on the domestic circuit. To honor the victims of the Ahmedabad plane accident, both teams wore black armbands when they took the field on the first day. Following the tragic collision on June 12, the entire stadium expressed sympathy and prayed for the victims. A minute after departing Ahmedabad, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner plane bound for London crashed, killing 181 Indians and 53 Britons. In the meantime, the Indian and English players observed a minute's silence at the start of play on Day 3 in remembrance of David "Syd" Lawrence, who passed away at the age of 61.
