Divya Delhi: After Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's house was set ablaze, Bangladesh's Muhammad Yunus government protested India's remarks. The nation called it "unexpected" and "wrong." The interim government expressed its resentment, noting that it is the country’s “internal matter”. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman pioneered the fight for freedom from the residents, and Bangladesh won Independence from Pakistan in 1971 was also announced from the residence. The house became a memorial later. India condemned the cruel conduct and set fire to the historic home. MEA spokeswoman Randhir Jaiswal said, “It is sad that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's historic mansion, a symbol of the valiant resistance of the people of Bangladesh against the forces of occupation and injustice, was demolished on February 5, 2025." Those who cherish the freedom fight that fostered Bangla identity and pride know how vital this home is to Bangladesh's national identity. Vandalism should be denounced.The BSS news agency reports that the Bangladeshi foreign ministry responded to India's comments, connecting "Dhanmondi 32" to the country's domestic issues. Earlier, Bangladesh protested to Sheikh Hasina’s address and submitted a protest with India’s Deputy High Commissioner. The Foreign Ministry said Bangladesh doesn't comment on other countries' internal affairs and expects the same.
