Anxiety
It's a feeling of intense fear, uneasiness. It's an emotion that causes increased alertness, tension, increased heart rate.
Causes:
Combination of various factors including genetic, psychological, environmental and developmental. Stress: long term stress which can come from any traumatic event, long-term illness, death of any family member, exam related, Some personalities are more prone to anxiety disorders, Substance use: drug or alcohol use, misuse or withdrawal, Having history of anxiety or other mental health problems in biological relatives.
Symptoms:- Trouble in sleeping, Irritability, Restlessness, Tension, Trouble in concentration, Palpitations, Sweating, Trembling, Sense of impending danger.
Types:- Generalized anxiety disorder(GAD): People with GAD have persistent feeling of anxiety. Generalized feeling of worry with difficult sleep, Panic disorder: People with panic disorder experience frequent and unexpected panic attacks. A person may have special triggers,
3. Agoraphobia: Fear and avoidance of places, events from which it may be difficult to escape eg using elevators, public transport.
4. Separation anxiety disorder: Person feels anxious after separation from a place or person that makes them feel safe such as a parent.
5. Social anxiety disorder: Fear of negative judgment from others. They feel others are evaluating everything they do.
