It's a feeling of intense fear, uneasiness. it's an emotion that causes increased alertness, tension, increased heart rate.

Causes:

Combination of various factors including genetic, psychological, environmental and developmental

1. Stress: long term stress which can come from any traumatic event, long-term illness, death of any family member, exam related

2. Some personalities are more prone to anxiety disorders

3. Substance use: drug or alcohol use, misuse or withdrawal

4. Having history of anxiety or other mental health problems in biological relatives Symptoms: Trouble in sleeping, Irritability, Restlessness, Tension, Trouble in concentration, Palpitations, Sweating, Trembling, Sense of impending danger.

Treatment:

Psychotherapy, 333 anxiety rule: Observing, Things you can hear, 3 things you can see and 3 things you can move or touch. It's a grounding technique a coping skill to manage intense emotions by steering the mind away from anxiety and towards the present moment.
