Divya Delhi: National Security Advisor of India, Ajit Doval had a telephonic conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. During the conversation, Doval stated that India and Pakistan would be committed to a ceasefire and look forward to restoring regional peace and stability as soon as possible. He highlighted that “War was not India’s choice and was not in the interests of any party.” He briefed the Chinese Foreign Minister about Pahalgam terrorist attack which caused casualties among Indian personnel. Doval reiterated that India needed to take counter-terrorism actions. The conversation between Doval and Wang Yi followed the ceasefire violation by Pakistan, despite an understanding that was reached on Saturday. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri had earlier announced that an understanding was reached this evening between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan to stop the military action that was going on for the last few days. However, within few hours, the understanding was violated by Pakistan and the Indian Army had retaliated the border intrusion swiftly.
