Uttar Pradesh Will Get 1500MW From Adani Power's Greenfield Plant

Divya Delhi: Adani Power Ltd., India's largest private thermal power generator, won a competitive contract to supply 1500 MW (net) to Uttar Pradesh. The contract requires the Company to supply power at a competitive rate of Rs 5.383 per unit from a greenfield 2x800 MW (1500 MW net) ultra-supercritical power plant in the state, set up under the DBFOO model. The Uttar Pradesh cabinet approved the project earlier this month. The Letter of Award (LoA) received today will allow the Company to execute a long-term Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd. (UPPCL). We are pleased to have won the competitive offer to deliver 1,500 MW power to UP state and proud to lead in satisfying its rapidly rising power demand. Adani Power CEO S.B. Khyalia stated the company would build a modern, low-emission Ultra-supercritical plant in UP and start producing steady, high-quality power by FY30. Mr. Khyalia stated Adani Power would invest ~$2 billion in plant and infrastructure setup. The project is projected to provide ~8,000-9,000 direct and indirect jobs during construction and ~2,000 during operation.
