Divya Delhi: President Donald Trump will sign “one of the most consequential executive orders” in US history on Monday at 9 am (local time) to lower prescription drug and pharmaceutical prices by 30% to 80% immediately in the US and increase worldwide to equalize and bring “fairness” to the US for the first time in many years. Trump announced it on Truth Social. He promised a "most favoured nation's policy," where the US will pay the same as the lowest-priced nation. Trump wrote on Truth Social, “For many years the World has wondered why Prescription Drugs and Pharmaceuticals in the United States of America were SO MUCH HIGHER IN PRICE THAN THEY WERE IN ANY OTHER NATION, SOMETIMES BEING FIVE TO TEN TIMES MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE SAME DRUG, MANUFACTURED IN THE EXACT SAME LABORATORY OR PLANT, BY THE SAME COMPANY Because there was no right response, explaining it was unpleasant and difficult. Pharmaceutical/Drug Companies claimed for years that it was Research and Development expenditures and that the “suckers” of America would bear these expenditures alone. Campaign contributions can work, but not for me or the GOP.”
