Divya Delhi: Actor-politician Vijay will host Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)'s second state convention in Madurai, a tremendous show of power ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The TVK summit in Madurai later today is drawing large numbers of party members. TVK will face Tamil Nadu Assembly elections for the first time. State elections are in 2026. party president Vijay unveiled "Now TVK," an exclusive membership drive app. At the app's launch, actor-turned-politician Vijay said, “2026 elections would be similar to two big elections that are 1967 & 1977 in Tamil Nadu Politics,” noting that “newcomers have won, opposing the power and influence who have been winning elections continuously.” According to DMK founder CN Annadurai, party workers should “go to people, live with them, learn from them and plan along with people.” If we do this, that's enough. He stated that by visiting to every town, street, and house for the ‘Tamil Nadu in Victory Rally’, we can win by uniting all families as party members. After forming DMK, Annadurai ran for Madras CM in 1967 and won. MG Ramachandran ran in 1977 after creating AIADMK, a DMK split. However, unlike Vijay, both leaders were political veterans. State politics just began for Vijay in 2004. Vijay had previously criticized the MK Stalin-led DMK government in Tamil Nadu for arresting protesting sanitation workers in Chennai in a “inhumane and anarchic” manner. “Condemn the fascist DMK government for inhumanely and anarchically arresting sanitation workers who have been peacefully fighting for their rights at night!
