Divya Delhi: Former President Donald Trump said he was certain Putin and Zelensky could achieve a peace deal in upcoming negotiations. At Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska, where he would meet with Putin on August 15, Trump expressed his belief that Putin was "ready for peace" and that the meeting had the potential to save "thousands of soldiers a week." It may be "more essential" than Trump's first discussions with Putin to meet with Zelensky again, possibly with European leaders in attendance, according to Trump. He made the comment, "It would be amazing if they could get along," and went on to say that the two leaders would probably make up. Accusing Biden of starting the war between Russia and Ukraine, Trump said it "would never have happened" when he was president. To "halt the killing" and end the catastrophe, he emphasized. Trump said regular U.S.-Russia economic relations were conceivable if Russia focused on business instead of war, citing its natural riches. He said he would know “in the first two minutes” of meeting Putin if a peace deal was possible, emphasizing the criticality of the Alaska encounter as a war turning point.
