Divya Delhi : An unexpected action by President Donald Trump's administration has worried former national security experts. The former officials were astonished to learn that the Trump administration had accidentally included a journalist in an encrypted messaging app discussion of Yemeni military attacks. The Atlantic said that National Security Adviser Mike Waltz created a Signal group chat with Vice President JD Vance, Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and CIA Director John Ratcliffe to coordinate US attacks against Houthi insurgents in Yemen Waltz also included Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg, who stayed in the chat and witnessed important material before leaving. The transmissions contained crucial information concerning strike timing, targets, and weapons. Hegseth reportedly disclosed “operational details of forthcoming strikes on Yemen, including targets, weapons the US would be deploying, and attack sequencing.” Meanwhile, Ratcliffe submitted “information that might be interpreted as related to actual and current intelligence operations.” Former officials said such information would likely be classified highest. The hack was widely criticized by former intelligence and military personnel. “Dear Sweet Baby Jesus,” one former senior US official said after learning about the incident. Another said, “No,” when asked if the Biden administration had ever experienced a breach.
