Divya Delhi: Operation Sindoor, which struck terrorist compounds in Pakistan following the 26-person Pahalgam disaster on April 22, was lauded by Mr. Modi in his 79th Independence Day speech. Terrorists from another country reportedly shocked the country and the world by asking victims about their faith before murdering them. From the Red Fort, Modi thanked the Operation Sindoor warriors, saying that the troops had "punished the enemy beyond comprehension" and destroyed the terrorist headquarters located "hundreds of kilometers within enemy territory.". Following the Pahalgam attack, he claimed, the military was free to choose their own strategy, goal, and time, allowing them to accomplish things that had been "impossible for decades." The prime minister warned Pakistan that if the latter engages in terrorist attacks or nuclear blackmail, India will not stand for it. "If the enemy makes another mistake, our forces will retaliate," he declared, heralding a "new normal" in national security for India. Modi claimed that India has special rights to the river flows and called the Indus Water Treaty unfair and "one-sided" in its treatment of Indian farmers. "Our farmers went without water while our rivers irrigated the enemy," he declared, vowing to never sacrifice national or agricultural interests. "India forbids blood-water mixing," Modi declared, reiterating the country's anti-terrorism campaign of decades.
