Divya Delhi: The Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court's Justice Sanjay Dhar has affirmed the detention of Shaista Maqbol, a female Lashkar affiliate, under the Public Safety Act (PSA). Due to strong evidence connecting her to terrorist operations and individuals linked with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET), the court rejected her appeal contesting the arrest. Musaib Lakhvi was an infamous terrorist who operated in the Hajin region of North Kashmir from 2016 to 2018. The court's verdict emphasized that Maqbol's incarceration was justified due to her close affiliation with Lakhvi. Notably, Lakhvi's uncle is Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, a co-founder of LET and a global terrorist implicated in the 2008 Mumbai attacks. The court found that Maqbol's ties go beyond Lakhvi and that she is believed to have formed relationships with a number of terrorists based in Jammu and Kashmir, both domestic and foreign. Her nicknames, such "Choti" and "Behan," were given to her by these terrorists, which points to her deep engagement with their networks and the reasons for her incarceration.
