Divya Delhi: According to an official statement, the central government has granted Rs 21,534 crore under production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes for 12 industries, including electronics and medicine, to stimulate local manufacturing. These 12 industries include large-scale electronics, pharma, IT hardware, autos, bulk medicines, specialized steel, textiles, medical devices, telecom, drones, white goods, and food processing. PLI schemes have distributed Rs 21,534 crore in incentives to 12 industries, the commerce and industry ministry stated. The government launched the Rs 1.97 lakh crore PLI plan for 14 sectors in 2021. Companies with increased industrial output in India receive cash incentives from the government.Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal requested the relevant ministries to create a five-year investment and payout framework after reviewing the programs' development. The ministry said the initiative has produced over Rs 16.5 lakh crore in production/sales and over 12 lakhs (direct and indirect) jobs by March 2025 with investments of Rs 1.76 lakh crore. It said the pharma sector has seen cumulative sales of Rs 2.66 lakh crore, including exports of Rs 1.70 lakh crore in the first three years of the scheme. As of March 2025, the sector added 83.70 percent domestically.
