Divya Delhi: Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, directed by Neeraj Pandey, is possibly the best criminal thriller in years, yet a few strange performances mar it. In Khakee: The Bengal Chapter, incisive writing and unexpected twists and turns are everywhere. A character (scheduled to become Kolkata's chief minister) narrates the city's crime condition in the "City Of Bhoy (fear)" tale, which explodes with wrath. I think Chitrangda is sophisticated. But that's because she can't portray her character's crude political desires. Zeenat Aman played a sweeper in Paapi (it happened!). Social climber Nivedita is Chitrangada's character. Her devotion for her unconscious student leader boyfriend warrants a chapter (Nivedita: The Nadaaniya Chapter?). Everyone except Arjun Maitra (Jeet) is a pushover and bully.Since Jeet's cop act is so good, I didn't miss the sympathy. Insanely captivating series. It draws us into its crime and treachery world and never lets go. A crime and punishment classic played at a bitch pitch, Episode 5 is killer. Bhowmik's transformation from the charming, cultured vocalist in Bandish Bandits to the ruthless criminal in this series deserves a standing ovation. Prosenjit Chatterjee and practically every performer, even Mahaakshay Chakraborty in a little role, soar to give The Bengal Chapter the edge the Bihar Chapter lacked. Luckily, Sagor's wife Manjula (Shruti Das) and cop Aratrika (Aakansha Singh) leave a great impression.
