Telangana SLBC Tunnel Collapse: Minister Gives Trapped Men ‘1% Survival Chance’ As Radar Finds Four

Divya Delhi:   Four of the eight individuals trapped in the collapsed Srisailam Left Bank Canal tunnel have been found by state mechanisms. Telangana Minister Jupally Krishna Rao told the reporters that GPR pinpointed their location. He added that the rescue attempt is underway and expects a major breakthrough by March 2 evening. He said the stranded men's chances of survival are slim. “I've said survival is slim from the start. “Why give up on that 1% of hope?” the Minister told the reporters. Minister Jupally Krishna Rao and Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy met with rescue officials and said there had been a lot of progress in recent days. When asked about the survival chances of the four recovered, the minister recalled saying on the first day that “I said survival chances are slim. I am not discussing it but waiting for 1% survival chance, he stated. Four people were manually desilted and identified. It should finish by Sunday night. The National Geophysical Research Institute  used Ground Penetrating Radar to find tunnel “anomalies” that led to the operation. The minister said four more were stuck under the Tunnel Boring Machine. The 450-foot TBM was being cut, he claimed. Army, NDRF, and rat miners are among 11 agencies engaging in the operation. At night, the state's Disaster Management department reported 18 organizations, 54 officials, and 703 persons involved in the rescue. The four Jharkhand workers are Sandeep, Santosh, Anju, and Jagta Khes.
