Divya Delhi: Despite the center's offer, a standoff over parliamentary committees continues as the TMC continues to press the nominees.Even as its confrontation with the Trinamool Congress over the delay — and potential sidelining — in the process continues, the Centre is all prepared to recommend to the Speaker and Chairman, respectively, of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, the creation of department-related standing committees. The main opposition party, the Congress, has submitted nominees for the chairmanships of the four committees to which they are eligible. This comprises one committee in the Rajya Sabha and three in the Lok Sabha, where the Congress currently has 97 members. The other opposition parties have, in principle, accepted the offered chairmanship as well.
