Divya Delhi: There are djinns everywhere. They cross borders without regard. They steal territory, cultures, and employment. The djinns have also filled voter lists and ballot boxes for their political masters' parties or those who granted them bogus papers and shelters. The Election Commission (EC) is searching for the genies, starting with Bihar, which goes to polls this year. Their political masters are worried. The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Bihar would remove almost 35 lakh names from the voting record. The state has 6.6 crore voters (88.18%) who have submitted enumeration forms. After July 25, the draft electoral roll will be released. The EC reported that 12.5 lakh electors, or 1.59 percent, have died yet remain on the list. Another 2.2 percent, or 17.5 lakh voters, left Bihar permanently. About 5.5 lakh voters (0.73%) have registered twice. This means 35.5 lakh voters—4.5% of Bihar's electorate—may be removed. It excludes illegal immigrants from Nepal, Bangladesh, and Myanmar who EC teams caught during field visits and registered to vote. These names will be removed following verification.
