Divya Delhi: Rubina Dilaik, who raises twin kids in Himachal Pradesh with her husband Abhinav Shukla, has spoken about living simply and setting an example. “We won't give our kids phones or tabs until we can try. No toffees, chips, or chocolates. They haven't had their meetha (sweet)," Dilaik told model and actor Paras Chhabra on his podcast. She said the pair likes ghar ka khaana, or home-cooked cuisine. Abhinav eats easily. Make him eat everything, even homemade cuisine. I am homey too. I prefer ghar-ka-khaana. Saada banta hamara khaana. We provide basic meals. When guests arrive, we feel the need to add salt and masalas due to their criticism of our patient-like eating habits. So, if basic cuisine gives us a happy life, we give our kids that also, said Dilaik, 37. Actor: "This is what our parents gave us," emphasizing its generational practice. Our parents never encouraged junk food, aerated drinks, sandwiches, burgers, or chips outside. We never got pocket money for it. They used to chastise us for eating outside. We never ate. We appreciate our parents for raising us that way. We complained about not getting aerated beverages until 11-12th grade. We now know that worth. Healthy eating habits were ingrained. No sweet or chocolate desires. Your child associates food with whatever you feed them.
