Divya Delhi: According to sources President Droupadi Murmu has authorized Delhi's Anti-Corruption Bureau ACB to investigate Aam Aadmi Party AAP leaders and former Delhi ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain for alleged irregularities in school building construction. Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, requires prior clearance for public official inquiries. The individuals above said the Union ministry of home affairs MHA informed ACB of the President's decision on March 11. Sisodia was education minister and Jain PWD minister in Delhi when the alleged violations occurred. The Centre amended the Prevention of Corruption Act in July 2018 to require police, the CBI, and other investigative agencies to obtain prior approval before conducting any “enquiry” or “investigation” into corruption-related offences against public officials. BJP leaders Harish Khurana, Kapil Mishra, and Neelkanth Bakshi filed a complaint alleging ₹2,000 crore in irregularities in building 12,748 school rooms at inflated costs, as per ACB's 17A sanction request, seen by HT. “The scam involves building 12,748 school rooms at exorbitant prices. The construction of school buildings costs around ₹2,892.65 crore, according to the document.
