Politically sacrificing Tamil Nadu's future

Divya Delhi:  Chief Minister MK Stalin said Tamil Nadu was ready for "another language war." Ironically, understanding seems to be the true enemy. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 promotes choice, flexibility, and opportunity, not Hindi. Not outdated rhetoric, but an open mind is needed to recognize it. In an open letter to Stalin, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stated that NEP 2020 is a transformative strategy that improves global education standards while protecting India's language and culture. Unlike the DMK's fearmongering, NEP recognizes Tamil and all Indian languages. Kashi Tamil Sangamam, Saurashtra Tamil Sangamam, Thirukkural's translation into 13 Indian languages, the Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre in Singapore, and the Subramania Bharati Chair in top institutions demonstrate the Modi government's commitment to Tamil language and culture. Education should not be politicized for narrow narratives. NEP 2020 fosters quality, inclusivity, and opportunities. Despite Centre assurances, Stalin called the proposal a "sin" that would set Tamil Nadu back "2,000 years," refusing it even if granted Rs 10,000 crore. His son, Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin, reiterates that Tamil Nadu will only use two languages. This disobedience is about political gain, not Tamil protection. Stalin's letter to PM Modi rejecting NEP-linked projects like SSA and PM SHRI Schools denies cooperative federalism. Dharmendra Pradhan correctly criticized the DMK for "spinning progressive reforms into threats" to maintain political narratives. The Tamil Nadu DMK isn't just opposing a policy—it's denying its kids the chance to compete in a changing world.
