Divya Delhi: Tragically, a ninth grader in the Yadgir district of Karnataka gave birth in the restroom of a public residential school. Reportedly, the sexual assault victim was a 14-year-old girl who was carrying a baby to term. Her fellow students found out about it on August 27 and reported it to the school officials. A 28-year-old male has been named as the culprit, and a POCSO case has been launched against him. Because they did not inform the proper authorities about the girl's pregnancy, the victim's brother, staff nurse, school warden, and principal are all named in a separate case. Due to their failure to fulfill their duties, the Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions Association (KREIS) has suspended all four school personnel. A thorough investigation is currently underway to identify individuals accountable for the negligence, according to officials, including the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police. The Child Rights Commission has also pointed the finger at the Social Welfare Department, saying that they should have been more proactive in ensuring that residential schools have regular medical exams.According to hospital reports, both the mother and her newborn are doing well.
