Divya Delhi: As Delhi's third ring road, these high-speed, access-controlled corridors are planned to reduce traffic on the Ring Road and arterial routes and improve regional connections to Gurugram, Jaipur, and Chandigarh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open the 76-km Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and 29-km Dwarka Expressway on Sunday, according to the Times of India. This high-speed, access-controlled corridor will serve as Delhi's third ring road, easing traffic on the Ring Road and arterial highways and improving regional connections to Gurugram, Jaipur, and Chandigarh. Both highways are access-controlled and linked. Chandigarh automobiles may reach Indira Gandhi International Airport, Gurugram, and Jaipur without stopping. Sources report that these two projects are finished. The four-part Dwarka Expressway cost Rs 9,000 crore. While building UER-II in five phases, Rs 7,716 crore was spent. The Prime Minister launched the Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway in March 2024 before the Lok Sabha elections. According to NHAI, UER-II begins in Alipur (NH-44) in Delhi and links to NH-9 and NH-48. The project was suggested under the Delhi Master Plan 2021. The length is 54.2 km in Delhi and 21.5 km in Haryana. The projected India International Convention Center (IICC) is connected by the Dwarka Expressway. The eight-lane grade-separated Dwarka Expressway contains at least three-lane service lanes on either side. It contains four multi-level interchanges and underpasses at major intersections.
