Divya Delhi:   On March 6, Om Puri, who worked with Mallika Sherawat in the sleazy political thriller ‘Dirty Politics’ for eleven years, defended her. Indeed, he renamed Mallika ‘Sharafat’. Om thanked me during an earlier interview, “I had heard stories about her and was quite apprehensive. I was surprised when she was drastically different when we met. So simple and innocent. She's from Rohtak and still a sweet, innocent small-town girl. We clicked immediately when I informed her I was from Patiala.” Om was startled by her tantrums and said, “She didn’t throw one tantrum during the song. I named her Mallika Sharafat.” Om added, “I'd love to work with her again. She is so unpretentious.” Dirty Politics, produced and directed by K C Bokadia, made Om Puri play a lecherous, over-libidinous politician who wants an ambitious sire. Om tried his best with a lousy script that uses sleaze and shock to get our attention. Other outstanding performers like Naseeruddin Shah, Anupam Kher, and Ashutosh Rana appeared to be having fun. Was it the paycheck? Dirty Politics didn't justify these brilliant actors' presence.
