Divya Delhi: Prajwal Revanna- Former MP and grandson of ex-PM Deve Gowda is lodged in Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara prison. The former Hassan MP is serving a life sentence in a rape case. Currently, he has been assigned the duty of library clerk. And for this, do you know how much this high-profile person will be paid daily? Revanna once drew a basic salary of Rs 1.24 lakh per month along with other allowances. Here is a complete breakdown of his routine work and salary. Prajwal Revanna will be earning Rs 522 for each day of work. The former MP began his duties as a library clerk a week ago. His responsibilities include issuing books and maintaining the register for both undertrial and convicted inmates who borrow from the prison library. “He is entitled to Rs 522 for each day of work, provided he completes the prescribed duties. In line with prison rules, life convicts are required to perform some form of labour, and assignments are made depending on their skills and willingness,” a jail official told PTI on Sunday. Reports also cited, however, that Revanna had shown interest in handling administrative work, but the jail administration decided to place him in the library instead. He has already completed one day of work in this role. The jail inmates are normally expected to work at least 12 days a month, spread over three days a week. The salary will be credited to his account every month. The money earned is entirely for him and he can either use the money to purchase items available in the prison or he could send the money to his amily.Revanna, who is the grandson of former PM HD Deva Gowda and son of former Karnataka chief minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy, was convicted by a special court on August 2 for raping his former house help. The court deals with cases against sitting and former MPs/MLAs. He was expelled from the JD(S) party after the allegations of rape surfaced in April 2024. Three more cases registered against him are still pending.
