Divya Delhi:  Following Delhi Metro, Kolkata Metro has announced that on Holi (March 14), its metro service will begin in the city after 2:30 pm. Services along the Dakshineswar-New Garia segment, commonly known as the North-South route, are scheduled to begin at 2:30 pm, according to Kolkata Metro. Although 262 services operate on this line during a typical workday, public transportation is typically suspended throughout the state on the morning of Holi. Regarding Esplanade-Howrah Maidan, the East-West corridor will run 42 services in all (21 up and down each) starting at 3 p.m. on Friday. There are 130 services in this stretch on an average day. 22 services (11 up and down each) will operate on the Sealdah-Sector 5 segment of the East-West corridor starting at 3 p.m. on March 14. 106 services operate along this section on weekdays under typical circumstances. According to an official announcement, services on the Kolkata Metro's East-West corridor were completely discontinued for two days on March 8 and 9. The CBTC's signaling and communication infrastructure between the Howrah Maidan and Salt Lake Sector V stretch was evaluated, and this two-day suspension was the third such incident in a month. Additionally, from February 13–16 and February 20–23, the services were halted. Holi 2025: Depending on the Hindu lunisolar calendar, Holi occurs on different days and on different dates each year. The celebration of Holi is scheduled to take place this year on Friday, March 14, 2025, while Choti Holi, the day before Holi, is observed on Thursday, March 13. It is a day to celebrate friendship, welcome spring, and say goodbye to winter. Notably, DMRC also declared on Tuesday that all metro lines will resume operation after 2:30 pm on March 14.
