Odisha Govt Summons Founder Achyuta Samanta Over Nepalese Student's Death

Divya Delhi:  The Odisha government summoned Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology founder Achyuta Samanta. Reports say Samanta must submit incident evidence and paperwork. The three-member commission, directed by Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department Satyabrata Sahu, investigates the student's death and the alleged maltreatment of numerous Nepalese pupils. The article said the team, which includes Higher Education and Women and Child Development secretaries, spoke with impacted Nepalese students on campus. The Bhubaneswar police have detained five additional employees, raising the total to 11. The five staff members were identified from  of the suspected assault on students leaving the hostel. The accused allegedly ordered the students out and assaulted them. The offender was held for 14 days by a municipal court after being denied bail. Five additional   employees were arrested and released. Despite the reported suicide of a 20-year-old Nepalese student, is steadily recovering. Large numbers of pupils returned to class, prompting increased security. After Prakriti Lamsal purportedly committed suicide, campus turmoil ensued. Following protests, 1,000 Nepalese students were suspended and expelled from campus. A 21-year-old engineering student accused of aiding Lamsal's suicide was arrested and remanded for three days by Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh. The accused, arrested at Biju Patnaik International Airport while fleeing, faces blackmail and verbal abuse charges. Investigations will include voice spectrography. Police took the deceased and accused's phones and laptops for forensic analysis.
