Divya Delhi: Nicole Kidman has discussed her reasons for collaborating with female directors including Sofia Coppola, Halina Reijn, and Lulu Wang. She wants to collaborate with female directors because she feels “in tune with women’s stories” as a “mother, daughter, wife, producer and actress.” Kidman, who will also star in Liz Sarnoff's 'Scarpetta', based on Patricia Cornwell's 'Kay Scarpetta' novels, wants to keep working with skilled women to convey their experiences. In an interview she said: “I feel in tune with women’s stories, obviously. As a woman, I can speak as a mother, daughter, wife, producer, and actress; I can travel in different areas and use a wealth of emotions and experiences to express my voice.I pick responsibilities and partners wisely. I wanted to collaborate with Susanne Bier or Lulu Wang since I admire their views. I just shot a film, "Holland," with a young filmmaker, Mimi Cave, who has her own unique voice, and now I'm working with a great Franco-Swedish woman, Charlotte Brandstrom, on the "Scarpetta" series. The Oscar winner won't make political decisions and will only be affected by the subject emotionally. Kidman promises to keep being brave about her film and TV career. She said, "I follow my heart, not ideology." I act on instinct and tell stories that fascinate me. I’ve always been drawn to folks with diverse and complex views, from all kinds of worlds, places, and civilizations. "I want to stay brave, not shut myself off, but join." I try. I never give up.
