Nepal Gen Z protests: 31 dead, negotiations on interim government

Divya Delhi: The Kathmandu Post stated that the Department of Forensic Medicine at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, where the victims are being examined for postmortems, had confirmed 31 Generation Z protest deaths. The Kathmandu Post reported Wednesday that 25 victims had been identified.The remaining six—five men and one woman—are unknown. We conducted a postmortem according to international practice. Head of the Department Dr. Gopal Kumar Chaudhary told The Kathmandu Post that they must store the remains and not reveal the deceased's identity.Authorities said most identifications were made using protest site papers or family members recognizing the dead. Over 1000 people were hurt in regional protests. Former Nepalese PM Khanal's wife is in severe condition after an arson attack during violent protests, The Kathmandu Post reported.Despite previous allegations that she was killed in the arson assault, Ravi Laxmi Chitrakar, the wife of former PM and prominent CPN (Unified Socialist) politician Jhala Nath Khanal, remains in serious condition following severe burns. The Kathmandu Post said that Chitrakar was hospitalized to Kirtipur Hospital on Tuesday after demonstrators set fire to her Dallu home while she was inside.As political instability continues, the Nepalese Army, President Ram Chandra Paudel, and Gen Z youth are negotiating the leadership of an interim administration, The Himalayan Post reported.
