Divya Delhi: A cloudburst in Uttarkashi's Harsil region caused flash floods and landslides. At least 11 Indian Army men are missing when a cloudburst-triggered flash flood hit Harsil, Uttarkashi district. As rescue efforts increased in the cloudburst area, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) confirmed their awareness. NDRF DIG Mohsin Shahidi said, “Eleven army soldiers are reported missing following yesterday’s flash flood in the Uttarkashi region in Harsil.” The Army is conducting a massive HADR operation. Multiple road washouts and the collapse of a major bridge have made the area “impassable from both north and south” for first responders. Over 225 infantry and engineer soldiers have been deployed by the Army. The conditions faced by rescuers, aid workers, and searchers are challenging. Seven specialized teams are searching off Reeco Radar near Tekla for missing people. Search and rescue dogs are also at Harsil. To complement the operation, Remount and Veterinary Centres are sending more dogs. The army stated the region's remoteness and persistent rain had made the job tough, but forces are working to help impacted residents and find missing jawans. Five people have died, 413 have been rescued, and 100 are stuck after a cloudburst caused flash floods and landslides in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, damaging Dharali and Sukhi Top.
