Divya Delhi:  Elon Musk led Tesla signed a lease to open its first showroom in Mumbai, a major step toward entering the Indian market. Tesla India has roughly two dozen mid-level employment openings for retail managers, service managers, and customer connection managers.m Tesla wants to sell imported cars in India, but levies exceed 100%. However, Elon Musk has called these levies among the highest globally. Musk also has Trump's support. Trump frequently criticizes India's high taxes, notably on cars. Retaliation has also been threatened. The US wants India to eliminate automobile tariffs as part of a planned trade pact. India is unwilling to instantly eliminate tariffs. Tesla will pay $446,000 (Rs 3.88 crores) in rent for the first year of a five-year contract for a 4,003-square-foot display space starting February 16, 2025, according to Reuters.
