Divya Delhi:   In a written response to the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State for Tourism and Petroleum Suresh Gopi stated that the Union government intends to increase the amount of ethanol blended into gasoline by 20% starting in 2030. The goal of 20% ethanol blending in gasoline was pushed, among other things, to Ethanol Supply Year (ESY) 2025–2026 from 2030 by the National Policy on Biofuels–2018, which was revised in 2022. In June 2022, Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) met the goal of 10% ethanol blending in gasoline, which was five months ahead of schedule for ESY 2021–2022. The amount of ethanol blended also rose to 12.06 percent in 2022–2023; 14.60 percent in 2023–2024; and 17.98 percent in 2024–2025.
