Divya Delhi: The Screenwriters Association of India (SWA) recently hosted the 7th Indian Screenwriters Conference (ISC), where filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan gave a speech. He explained that the popularity of South Indian films can be attributed to their emphasis on relatable, real-life characters and situations. He clarified that characters in Bollywood are frequently crafted to appeal to a particular demographic, which might lessen their sense of authenticity. Neeraj also brought up the dearth of funding for independent films in India, which hinders their success. He claimed that in order to make their movies profitable, producers frequently have to make concessions, such as depending on well-known performers or music. He talked about the challenges of maintaining artistic integrity when collaborating with studios. Kanu Behl, Megha Ramaswamy, and Shoojit Sircar were among the other directors who participated in the panel discussion. According to Kanu Behl, independent filmmaking appears to be "dead" because it's difficult to predict whether a movie will ever be produced. Numerous well-known screenwriters and filmmakers attended the conference to talk about the difficulties and evolving trends in the business.
