Divya Delhi: The BMC declares a holiday in Mumbai on election day to combat urban apathy.The Maharashtra Assembly Elections are on November 20, and Mumbai District Election Officer and Brihanmumbai Municipal (BMC) Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani has imposed an obligatory holiday in the city to increase voter turnout. Instead of deducting compensation from leave-taking employees, employers who breach the rule will be punished. The District Election Officer ordered a holiday for all companies and sectors. Everyone eligible to vote in the State Assembly elections and engaged in any business, commerce, industrial venture, or other establishment in the polling region shall be provided a holiday on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. All industrial groups, businesses, companies, institutions, undertakings, and other establishments must follow this guideline ".
