Divya Delhi: A major fire at a hypermarket in Al-Kut, Eastern Iraq, killed 50 people on Thursday. According to province governor Mohammed al-Miyahi, INA reported. Social media videos showed a five-story Al-Kut building burning overnight. Firefighters are still containing the flames. The videos were unverifiable. An investigation was expected within 48 hours. "We have 59 victims whose identities have been confirmed, but one body was so badly burned that it has been extremely difficult to identify," a local health official told Reuters. More bodies are found. The cause of the incident is unknown, but Iran's national news agency INA expects preliminary investigation results within two days. “We have filed lawsuits against the owner of the building and mall,” the governor told INA.
