Divya Delhi: Police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, northwest Pakistan, said that unknown militants bombed a government high school early Friday (June 6, 2025). Police officials stated the militants detonated the government high school in Akbari village under the Gul Imam police station jurisdiction of Tank district, causing several rooms to collapse. No one has claimed responsibility for the school blast. However, Tank district TTP breakaway groups target females' schools and oppose their education. Over the past decade, local NGOs have stated that over 450 schools in the Province have been destroyed in attacks of this kind, forcing children to drop out or attend courses next to wreckage. In the Swat Valley and northwest Pakistan, including former Taliban strongholds, girls' schools were repeatedly attacked till 2019. Malala Yousafzai, a young activist and student, awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her fight for girls' education after militants attacked her in 2012.
