Divya Delhi : Jyoti Rani, a travel vlogger, was detained on Saturday for spying for Pakistan and disclosing crucial Indian military intelligence. Espionage accusations have been filed against the 33-year-old and five others. She told Pakistani intelligence handlers vital Indian Army movements and locations, officials say. Investigators believe she was part of a Haryana-Punjab network. Malhotra was barred from China for her behavior before her arrest. Many considered her 2024 footage from her trip to the country insulting and disturbing. Her Internet critics called her "rude", "mannerless", and "disrespectful" of local norms and regulations. One footage showed her on a Shanghai-Beijing high-speed train in a middle seat. She convinced another passenger to give up his window seat. Another time, she tried to ride a local lady's two-wheeler despite the woman going the other way. After traveling a short distance, the woman had to call the police after not understanding the YouTuber's requests. In other recordings, Malhotra boarded a bus without a ticket and refused to pay the driver. She pointed to her location and argued with the driver to get off at a non-designated stop. She criticized people's height, "cheap" phones, and locals' Chinese-only use in videos.
