Divya Delhi:   After a Pahalgam terror assault that murdered 26 people, most of them tourists, 48 tourist locations, including public parks, in Jammu and Kashmir were temporarily closed for safety. Officials told  that 48 of 87 public parks and gardens in the region have closed their gates. Authorities said escalating security concerns prompted the move. Popular and lesser-known attractions include Dooshpathri, Kokernag, Duksum, Sinthan Top, Acchabal, Bangus Valley, Margan Top, and Tosamaidan are closed. After the Pahalgam incident, which killed 26 tourists, Jammu and Kashmir has strengthened security. Despite no government order, numerous Kashmiri tourism sites have been closed. Many prominent spots have barred gates and prohibited admission. The famed Mughal Gardens in South Kashmir are closed to visitors. Kashmir's economy relies on tourism, therefore closing these places is a major loss symbolically and monetarily. Officials say local and visitor safety is their top priority. The attack heightened tensions between nuclear-armed India and Pakistan. The Pakistan Army fired unannounced across the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara, Baramulla, and Akhnoor districts on April 28–29. This is the fifth day of gunfire.
