Divya Delhi: The Supreme Court gave departments eight weeks to create stray dog shelters in Delhi-NCR. The court ordered municipalities and other relevant entities to establish sufficient dog shelters within the specified timeframe to prohibit dogs from being in public spaces, marking a landmark decision. On Monday, the Supreme Court ordered all Delhi-NCR stray dogs to shelters to prevent child assaults. In its hearing, the bench ordered shelters to install CCTV cameras “to ensure that dogs are not released” and collect strays “from all localities, more particularly vulnerable localities and cities.” MCD, NDMC, and Delhi must adopt stray dogs statewide. The Supreme Court gave departments eight weeks to create stray dog shelters in Delhi-NCR. The court ordered municipalities and other relevant entities to create enough dog shelters within the stated timeframe to ban dogs from public spaces in a landmark decision. Supreme Court Order:- The shelter has to keep stray canines off streets and colonies per court order. The Supreme Court ruled such canines must stay in shelters. The Supreme Court requires state and local governments to monitor and house stray dogs in public. A judge vowed to penalize anyone who blocked this operation. Stray dogs should never be around babies or little children, the Court said. Judges J. B. Pardiwala and R. Mahadevan suggested 5,000 stray dog shelters with sterilization and immunization staff.
