Divya Delhi: Indian Railways has shown continuous rise in female employment. Over 1.13 lakh women work, raising the workforce percentage to 8.2. Since 2014, the workforce has steadily increased from 6.6%. Women are important in several railway sectors. An official release reported 2,162 female loco pilots. In addition, 794 women are critical train managers (guards) and 1,699 are station masters nationwide. In addition to operating duties, women are prominent in administrative and maintenance. Reports say Indian Railways has 2,360 female supervisors and 12,362 female employees. Over 7,756 hardworking women are now assuring train operation in a male-dominated industry. Besides the above roles, women work as ticket checkers (4,446) and pointsmen (4,430). Woman empowerment is evident in Matunga, New Amravati, Ajni, and Gandhinagar railway stations. “The increasing participation of women in Indian Railways reflects a positive shift toward gender equality and empowerment in one of the country’s most critical sectors,” said a railway official.
