India-Qatar relations are now a Strategic Partnership as  strengthens ties with Middle Eastern states

Divya Delhi:   PM Narendra Modi and Qatar's Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani inked a deal to boost India-Qatar relations to a Strategic Partnership focused on commerce, energy, investments, innovation, technology, food security, culture, and people-to-people links.Both presidents held wide-ranging talks at   Hyderabad House, exchanging views on regional and global matters of mutual concern.Besides establishing bilateral strategic partnership contacts, both leaders also observed the exchange of an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income.Earlier, the Amir, who is accompanied by a high-level entourage that comprises ministers, senior officials, and a business group, was offered a ceremonial welcome in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan.President Droupadi Murmu will throw a banquet for the visiting leader, who will conduct talks with her that night.In a special gesture, Prime Minister Modi travelled to the Air Force Station in Palam  evening to meet the Amir on his milestone visit, his second to the country following. I went to the airport to see my brother, Amir, H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. Wishing him a fruitful stay in India and looking forward to our meeting tomorrow," the PM had tweeted on X after greeting Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. The Amir thanked the Prime Minister, the Indian government, and the friendly Indian people for their warm welcome and hospitality, noting the depth of the historical relations between the two countries and stressing that India is one of Qatar's most important economic partners.The exchange ceremony was attended by Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Chief of the Amiri Diwan Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of Labour Ali bin Saeed Al Marri, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al Thani and a number of other dignitaries.India and Qatar share a long history of friendship, trust, and respect. The Ministry of External Affairs   said this week that the two nations' connections in trade, investment, energy, technology, culture, and people-to-people ties had strengthened in recent years.The two nations have also had frequent high-level leadership meetings. PM Modi visited Doha after Amir's  trip to India. The two presidents have also often met on the margins of other events, including the  Summit in Dubai and the General Assembly.
