Divya Delhi:  Five dome levels dedicated to the five elements—a circular and substantial creation based on sacred writings. Modi was enthralled by his first sight of the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi. Hindus and non-Hindus built this treasure for Bhagwan Swaminarayan and his devotees. If the tangible heritage of Sanatan history were to be read in reverse chronology, the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and the temples built by the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, in India and abroad, would occupy a significant chapter—marking a “beginning" in the era of permanent Hindu temples. In Kaliyuga, continuity is as good as a beginning. Every intervention that connects the devotee to the ancient matters. From this part of the 21st century—marked by the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Mandir in 2024 and the inauguration of the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi by PM Modi during his visit to the United Arab Emirates in February 2024—India’s temple heritage journey through the golden eras of the Cholas, Rashtrakutas, and other dynasties that bestowed upon Bharatiya civilisations the magnificent legacy of temples in stone, stands as living evidence of the unflinching spirit of the bhakta-creators. They have kept the life-bearing flame of darshan burning and flourishing. The long, fulfilling, and arduous journey of heritage and tradition—of both iconic and aniconic images—might ultimately take us to the representation of the female form: the “female deities" in terracotta from Harappa, as the beginning of the beginning.
