Divya Delhi; The Indian men's and women's hockey teams began their FIH Hockey Pro League 2024-25 campaigns separately at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar  The Indian women's team beat England 3-2, but the men's squad lost 3-1 against Spain.The women's team scored their first three points despite some defensive deficiencies, but the men's squad couldn't break through Spain's formidable defense. Spain avenged its loss in the 2024 Paris Olympics by beating India. The Indian women’s hockey team performed admirably against England and registered a thrilling 3-2 win. The squad struggled at first but eventually took control and won. The two sides fought hard, with the defense excelling. India led in penalty corners (PC), converting 2 of 3 into goals and taking a 2-1 lead in 25 minutes. It looked like this result would stand till the finish of the match, but England’s Fiona Crackles scored in the penultimate minute to make the score 2-2. While the spectators were prepared for the shootout, Navneet Kaur scored a goal in the last minute with a great finishing, beating England goalie Miriam Pritchard and giving India the win.
