Divya Delhi:  The liver is one of the body's most important organs, removing poisons and toxic compounds. Many items claim to assist liver health, but a balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and whole grains is better. A 5–10% weight loss can improve metabolic steatohepatitis or fatty liver disease. The Apollo Health of the Nation Report found that 65% of 2.5 lakh examined people had fatty liver. Interestingly, 85% of fatty liver patients were non-alcoholic, highlighting the importance of diet. To maintain liver function, Dr. Sandeep M S, Senior Consultant – Gastroenterology, Apollo Hospitals, Sheshadripuram, recommends eating 50% non-starchy veggies for antioxidants and fiber. According to the doctor, healthy fats like nuts, seeds, avocados, olives, olive oil, and fatty seafood like tuna and salmon are also important. Monounsaturated fats from avocados, eggs, nuts, and olives reduce liver fat, while polyunsaturated fats from salmon, tuna, sardines, flax seeds, sunflower seeds, and walnuts supply omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids that fight inflammation."
