Divya Delhi : In a remarkable step towards women empowerment, HDFC Foundation under its CSR initiative “Parivartan,” in collaboration with Sachhi Saheli NGO, inaugurated Project Swabhiman, a pioneering program aimed at empowering women with employable skills and financial independence. The inauguration ceremony, held at 154, New MIG, Mayur Vihar phase 3, East Delhi, marked the beginning of a journey for 50 women from marginalized communities, who will be skilled as female drivers and General Duty Assistants (GDA). The project also includes holistic training in financial management, English-speaking, computer literacy, and personal health management, with a focus on menstrual hygiene.Empowering women isn’t just a necessity; it’s a responsibility,” said Mrs Anita Singh, a renowned social worker. Project Swabhiman reflects our commitment to providing opportunities that lead to sustainable livelihoods for women, enabling them to break barriers and become financially independent.”Since its inception nine years ago, Sachhi Saheli NGO has been at the forefront of advocating for women's health and empowerment in Delhi and seven other states. Dr. Surbhi Singh, President and Founder of Sachhi Saheli, shared, “This project is not just about skills but about instilling confidence and resilience in women, enabling them to achieve self-reliance and dignity in their lives.”Upon completing their training, participants will undergo certification and placement assistance, ensuring they have a platform to begin their employment journey. HDFC Foundation and Sachhi Saheli envision creating a ripple effect of change, inspiring more women to break stereotypes and embrace opportunities.
