An official said police began an investigation after the child's body was located in a Singvad taluka village school property on Thursday.Superintendent of Police Rajdeepsinh Zala claimed Govind Nat, the school principal, smothered the child after she resisted his sexual assault. The principal, who was passing by in his car, consented to drive the girl to school at her mother's request at 10.20 am on Thursday. Zala told journalists that students and teachers told police the girl missed school that day. The police officer said the principal first claimed he dropped her off at school after picking her up in his car. He said he confessed to killing the girl to the police. The principal tried to molest the girl on the way to school. During her resistance, he covered her lips and nose to stop her from shouting, knocking her out. “The principal drove to school and parked with the girl's body inside. The body was removed and dumped behind the school at 5 pm. He placed her school bag and slippers in her classroom. He said technical analysis and his evening school departure made him the primary suspect, and he confessed following interrogation. Smothering was found in the girl's post-mortem report a day after her body was located.Her family searched the compound behind the school and found the child unconscious after she didn't come home. At Limkheda Civil Hospital, doctors pronounced the youngster dead.
